Algeria’s military strength has become a source of concern, as the Russian-Ukrainian war showed the strength of the Russian weapon, which Algeria owns most of its types, given the Algerian-Russian rapprochement in the military field, which makes it a regional military power that no country in the Mediterranean can confront.
And the weapons that Algeria possesses, such as a fleet of “Kilo” submarines capable of staying under water for 45 days, carrying a crew of 52 people and including 18 torpedoes, or 24 mines, eight Strela 3M missiles and four 3M54K Kalibr missiles, with The integration of four Kalibr missiles, which showed great success in hitting targets accurately, after its use in the Russian military operation against Ukraine, which means that there on the southern side can place the Kalibr missile from one of its submarines anywhere directed without the slightest ability to deter it.
Algeria is the only country in the Mediterranean with Israel, capable of launching tactical missiles from its submarines to land, which the European coastal countries do not possess, considering that this weapon is undoubtedly the greatest threat to Western Europe.
Algeria also has squadrons of Russian fighters, and plans to acquire the Sukhoi 57, a fifth-generation fighter comparable to the American F-35, equipped with an ultra-high-capacity X-band radar, with a range of 400 km, and it can track 60 targets at the same time. , and other advanced weapons similar to the Chinese CM-302 anti-ship missile.
The CM-302 missile was launched in Algeria, after military sources reported earlier information about Algeria’s acquisition of this marine hypersonic missile, making it the first country to own it among the Mediterranean countries.
In September 2021, Algeria became the first operator of the Chinese CM-302 (YJ-12B) four-sound coastal defense missile in its land-to-sea version.
The strategic situation in the Mediterranean is undergoing an amazing change with the recent armament of Algeria, which does not currently pose any serious military threat, but these military capabilities in the medium term could affect European interests with regard to controlling the waters of the Mediterranean.
